Looking for a flu shot in Gatineau this fall? Bookings opened on October 13 and vaccination started on October 20, but the rules changed: Quebec's flu shot is no longer free for everyone. This guide explains who still gets it free, how to book in the Outaouais and what you can do if you are not eligible. It is a Gatineau-focused companion to our Ontario and Quebec flu shot guide.
Which Gatineau Situation Is Yours?
Early Flu Season in the Outaouais
Santé Québec Outaouais data reported by TVA Gatineau suggest the flu season started earlier than last year. Public health is urging residents to book early.

Who Gets the Free Flu Shot in Quebec?
Everyone else can still be vaccinated but pays. Quebec has not published a price I could find, and pharmacies set their own fees, so ask for the total (vaccine plus administration fee) before booking.
How to Book in Gatineau
1. Clic Santé (online)
Choose the flu vaccination service and your location. Bring your health card, wear a top that exposes your shoulder, and do not attend with respiratory symptoms.
2. Adults: Gatineau local point of service
The Santé Québec Outaouais page lists a local point of service at 80 Avenue Gatineau for adults in Gatineau. It takes appointments only, by Clic Santé or by phone at 819-776-6116.
3. Children: CLSCs and some clinics
For children 0 to 4, nurses at all CLSCs and some family medicine groups (GMFs) and medical clinics offer vaccination. School-age children can be vaccinated at all CLSCs and some GMFs and clinics. Book through Clic Santé or contact your CLSC.
4. Pharmacies
72 pharmacies in the Outaouais are taking part in the flu and COVID-19 campaign, according to TVA Gatineau. Ask your pharmacy how to book and what it charges.
Not Eligible? Your Ottawa Option
Ontario's 2026-27 flu shot is free for everyone aged 6 months and older who lives, works or goes to school in Ontario, and a health card is not required. If you commute to a job or school in Ottawa, you may qualify even though you live in Gatineau. This is my reading of ontario.ca's wording, and Ontario says proof of residence, work or school enrolment may be requested, so check with the pharmacy before you go.
COVID-19 and RSV in the Same Visit
In Quebec, flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given at the same appointment if you are eligible for both. The RSV vaccine is free for people 75 and older this fall. Eligibility for COVID-19 and RSV is narrower than for flu, so check before you book.
