PC Optimum members can now earn 10 points per $1 spent at every Specsavers location across Canada — effective June 8, 2026. That means your next pair of glasses, contact lenses, or sunglasses earns you rewards redeemable at Loblaws, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, and more.

If you carry a PC Optimum card in your wallet — or use the app — there is a new place to earn points you probably weren't expecting: your optometrist. Specsavers Canada announced on June 22, 2026 that it has entered a national loyalty partnership with Loblaw's PC Optimum program, effective from June 8. It is one of the most meaningful expansions of the PC Optimum network in recent years, adding eyecare to a loyalty ecosystem that already spans groceries, pharmacy, fuel, and food delivery.

What's Actually Changing

The partnership is straightforward. At checkout in any Specsavers store in Canada, scan your PC Optimum card or app — and you will earn 10 points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases. That rate applies permanently, not just as a promotional offer.

📌 Important: Points are earned at Specsavers — but redeemed elsewhere. To spend your points, visit any Loblaw-affiliated location: Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, or Maxi. Every 10,000 points = $10 off at checkout. Specsavers is an earn-only partner.

Why Specsavers, and Why Now?

This partnership is the latest move in a deepening relationship between Specsavers and Loblaw. In 2025, 111 Specsavers locations opened within Loblaw stores across Canada, making eyecare a literal part of the grocery shopping experience for millions of Canadians. The PC Optimum integration is the next logical step — tying the loyalty program to a service already embedded in the Loblaw footprint.

"As one of Canada's strongest loyalty reward programs, PC Optimum was a compelling strategic choice. Over the past five years, we have built strong momentum and as we continue to grow, our focus remains on making quality eyewear and eyecare more accessible and more rewarding for every community we serve across this country."— Jane Hoban, Managing Director, Specsavers Canada
"People expect their loyalty programs to show up across more of the moments that matter to them. With Specsavers joining PC Optimum, members can now earn points on eligible eyewear and accessories purchases, making it even easier to be rewarded for everyday spending."— Lauren Steinberg, Chief Digital Officer, Loblaw Companies Limited

The timing is also notable. At a time when Canadians are feeling increased pressure on their wallets, the partnership makes it easier for Canadians to see value in routine eyecare spending. Eyecare is often a non-negotiable annual expense — a prescription eye exam, a new pair of glasses, or a year's supply of contact lenses. Adding loyalty rewards to that spending represents real, stackable savings for millions of households.

How Big is Specsavers in Canada Now?

📅 Founded in Canada
Late 2021 — 5 Years of Growth
Specsavers, a UK-founded optometrist-owned chain, entered Canada in late 2021. It has grown to 270+ locations across nine provinces and one territory in under five years — a remarkably rapid expansion for the Canadian optical market.
🏪 Store Count
270+ Locations Nationwide
Available in nine provinces and one territory. Many locations are co-located inside Loblaw-banner stores — Real Canadian Superstore, Loblaws, Zehrs, Your Independent Grocer, Fortinos, and Atlantic Superstore — making them accessible during regular grocery runs.
🔬 Standard Technology
OCT Eye Scans Included
Every Specsavers location includes Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technology as standard in eye exams — a detailed scan of the back of the eye that helps detect early signs of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease, often at an additional cost at other clinics.
🌐 Global Context
2,700+ Stores Globally
Founded 40+ years ago in the UK by optometrist husband-and-wife team Doug and Mary Perkins, Specsavers operates 2,700+ locations globally, serving over 44 million customers. Canada is now a major growth market for the company.

The Bigger Picture: PC Optimum's Expanding Universe

The Specsavers addition continues a pattern of Loblaw expanding PC Optimum beyond its traditional grocery and pharmacy base. The program has grown significantly as a loyalty platform over the past two years:

  • DoorDash (2025):5 points per $1 on eligible restaurant and Loblaw grocery delivery orders. 10 points per $1 for the first 3 months. A welcome bonus of up to 25,000 points for new DoorDash users who link their PC Optimum account.
  • Specsavers (June 8, 2026):10 points per $1 on glasses, contact lenses, and accessories at all 270+ Canadian locations. Permanent rate, with bonus events via the PC Optimum App.
  • EQ Bank acquisition of PC Financial (2026):EQB, the owner of EQ Bank, announced it will acquire PC Financial and become the exclusive financial partner of the PC Optimum program — signalling further expansion of the rewards ecosystem into banking and financial services.
  • pcogo app pilot (November 2025):A scan-as-you-shop pilot at three Toronto No Frills locations lets customers with 30,000+ lifetime points see a real-time bill total and points earned during their shop. Potential rollout TBD.
  • 4,500+ earn locations:PC Optimum currently operates across 4,500+ locations including Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, Joe Fresh, Esso/Mobil, DoorDash, and now Specsavers.

How to Make the Most of Your Next Specsavers Visit

Practical Steps
The earn rate is 10 points per $1 — which translates to a 10% return rate in points value (since 10,000 points = $10). That's significantly higher than the standard 1,000 points per $1 at most Loblaw-banner grocery stores. A $200 pair of glasses earns you 2,000 points ($2 in value). A $500 contact lens yearly supply earns 5,000 points ($5). Stack with existing Specsavers promotions and PC Optimum App bonus events for the best return.
  • Make sure your PC Optimum app is updatedbefore your visit — bonus point events for Specsavers may appear as personalized offers in your App.
  • Scan your card at the time of purchase.Points aren't added retroactively for missed scans at Specsavers. Bring your physical card or have the App open at checkout.
  • Check the PC Optimum App for Specsavers bonus events— similar to how Shoppers Drug Mart bonus redemption events work, Specsavers may offer higher-earn windows tied to the App.
  • Redeem your Specsavers-earned points at a Loblaw store— not at Specsavers itself. Points go into your PC Optimum account and can be spent at your next grocery or pharmacy run.
🔍 Background: What Is PC Optimum?
PC Optimum is Loblaw's loyalty program, formed in 2018 from the merger of PC Plus and Shoppers Optimum. With 18 million members, it's one of the largest loyalty programs in Canada. Members earn points at 4,500+ locations across the Loblaw ecosystem and redeem them at a rate of 10,000 points = $10 off their purchase. The program is free to join at pcoptimum.ca or in the app.
